Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi Raise Eyebrows With ‘Co-Dependent’ Claims Ahead of Wuthering Heights

As part of their PR campaign for Wuthering Heights, Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi have sparked curiosity over their on-set dynamic. The actors described becoming “co-dependent” and even admitted to a mutual “obsession” with each other.

The film is directed by Emerald Fennell, acclaimed for Promising Young Woman and Saltburn.

Holes Trailer: Margot Robbie Reveals Wuthering Heights Film Far Racier Than the Book

Promoting Wuthering Heights on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Margot Robbie hinted that the film will be noticeably more sexual than Emily Brontë’s original novel. When Kimmel pointed out that there’s “a lot of sex” in the movie and asked if the book was similar, Robbie replied, “They never even really kiss.”

If Saltburn is any indication, audiences can expect a bolder, racier adaptation.

On Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Kimmel joked to Margot Robbie about the film’s intimate scenes, saying, “You guys do,” referring to Robbie and Jacob Elordi. Laughing, Robbie replied, “Yeah, we do, we kiss a lot, kiss everywhere. A lot of kissing.”

This isn’t the first time Robbie has discussed the film’s steamy departure from Emily Brontë’s reserved novel. In a British Vogue cover story, she explained:
“What reads to us as hot or exciting or sexy? And it’s not just a sex position or someone taking their shirt off. It was the little things that we loved as two women in our 30s, and this movie is primarily for people in our demographic. These epic romances and period pieces aren’t often made by women.”

The adaptation promises a bolder, more sensual take on the classic story.

“In one of our first conversations about this film, I asked Emerald what her dream outcome was.

“She said, ‘I want this to be this generation’s Titanic’ I went to the cinema to watch Romeo & Juliet eight times and I was on the ground crying when I wasn’t allowed to go back for a ninth.

I want it to be that.’”

Robbie also added: “Not to say there aren’t sexual elements and that it’s not provocative   it definitely is provocative  but it’s more romantic than provocative. This is a big epic romance.”

Robbie and Elordi have mostly been making headlines, however, around their relationship, with the Australian actress explaining how the Oscar-nominated Frankenstein actor filled her dressing room with roses for Valentines Day.

The pair have spoken about their ‘mutual obsession’ with one another, with Elordi saying previously: “If you have the opportunity to share a film set with Margot Robbie, you’re going to make sure you’re within five to 10 metres at all times.”

Wuthering Heights hits cinemas February 13, 2026.
