Dax Shepard slammed as ‘disrespectful’ to wife Kristen Bell following ‘creepy’ Sabrina Carpenter comment
His controversial remark hasn’t gone down well with fans

Dax Shepard has faced backlash for making what some have called a “creepy” comment about Sabrina Carpenter.
Fans argued that the 51-year-old actor and comedian went a bit too far complimenting the 26-year-old singer during a recent episode of his Armchair Expert podcast.
Shepard revealed he’s become “newly obsessed” with Carpenter while chatting with Saturday Night Live star Marcello Hernandez. He attributed his sudden interest in her music to his daughters, Lincoln, 12, and Delta, 11, whom he shares with wife Kristen Bell.
He explained that last year, his youngest daughter had been making him listen to Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet album during school runs, which led him to hop on “the Sabrina train.”
During the podcast, Shepard also expressed his fondness for the former Disney star while talking with Hernandez, who has worked with Carpenter in the past. The singer has made several appearances on SNL and performed a recurring sketch alongside Hernandez featuring his alter ego, “Domingo.”

At the time, footage of the skit went viral, and Hernandez also attended one of Carpenter’s concerts in Los Angeles in November 2024.
During her last tour, Carpenter would pick a celebrity from the audience and “arrest” them for being too attractive before starting her hit song Juno. She’d wave a pair of fuzzy pink handcuffs and engage in playful, flirty banter. Following the success of the SNL sketch, Hernandez joined in while in character as Domingo.
Because of this shared connection and his own admitted “obsession” with Carpenter Shepard brought her up during Hernandez’s appearance on the Armchair Expert podcast.
The Without a Paddle actor said: “If I’m you again and I’m 28, I’m going to try to date [Carpenter] with all my might. Are you not trying your hardest to marry her?”
Given that Shepard is a married man and 25 years older than the Pennsylvania-born singer, many viewers found the comment unusual.
Numerous social media users called the remark “disrespectful” toward his wife Kristen Bell, whom he married in 2013 after meeting in 2007.

One person commented on X: “Dax is such a creep and disrespectful af to his wife.”
Another wrote: “It’s a bad look for a married man to be that obsessed with a pop star’s love life.”
A third added: “Just because he can’t respect his relationship doesn’t mean everyone thinks like him,” while a fourth chimed in: “Dax Shepard is being a creepy uncle again.”
Adding to the awkwardness, Shepard’s guest didn’t really play along. Hernandez reminded the podcast host that he’s already in a relationship.
The 28-year-old comedian said: “I’m in a relationship. Yeah, I’m in a relationship with a Dominican girl. She’s an architect. She’s unreal. She went to Yale.” (Fair enough that’s the only appropriate answer to that question.)
Hernandez has reportedly been dating architect, sculptor, and furniture designer Ana Amelia Batlle Cabral since last year.

Still, Hernandez said he had a great time working with Carpenter on SNL and praised her for being “down to clown,” adding:
“She’s down to think of something funny. She’s an actress. Sabrina’s awesome and she’s really funny and cool. She’s great. The Domingo thing was big, and she was all about it, and it was so cool.”
He also told Shepard that being “fake arrested” at her gig was “an unreal experience.”
This isn’t the first time Shepard and Bell’s marriage has attracted media attention. Last year, the actress raised eyebrows by saying she “wouldn’t bat an eyelid” if her husband cheated on her.
Music legend Cher also weighed in on their unique relationship, telling Shepard that he’s a “lucky” man and that Bell is “definitely the better half.”
