The cast of This Is Us share the same deep family bonds in real life as the characters they portrayed on the hit NBC drama.
“[Playing a mom has] shown me that maybe I’m not as patient as I thought I was,” Mandy Moore who starred as family matriarch Rebecca Pearson — exclusively told Us Weekly in February 2019. She also revealed that she learned how to change a diaper during the show’s first season. “But maybe it will be different when it’s your own children
“We’re doing great. My wife is the strongest person I know, and to be able to rebound from any of that is huge,” Ventimiglia who portrayed Jack Pearson — told Us Weekly in December 2025. “We’re still dealing with the remnants of the fires, but thank God we’ve been responsible with our funds and finances and were ready for something like this to happen.”
The following month, in January 2026, Us Weekly confirmed that Mariano was expecting baby No. 2.

Jasmine Cephas Jones
Ron Cephas Jones, who portrayed Randall’s biological father, William Hill, on This Is Us, became a real-life father in July 1989, welcoming future Blindspotting star Jasmine Cephas Jones with Kim Lesley. Ron sadly passed away in August 2023 due to heart issues, and he is survived by Jasmine.

“They can’t really watch This Is Us,” Brown told Us Weekly in January 2020. “It’s nine o’clock, they’re both in bed, and filming keeps me away from them a lot. They’re like, ‘Are you going off to do This Is Us again?’ And I’m like, ‘I’m sorry guys, Daddy will be back as soon as possible.’ They’re like, ‘OK.’ Anytime something takes dad away, it’s not cool.”
