Victoria Beckham Scores a Best-Selling Single Amid Brooklyn Family Feud

The Beckham family fallout has sparked a surprising resurgence in Victoria Beckham’s pop career.

Brooklyn Beckham’s scathing comments about his family have inadvertently shined a spotlight on Victoria’s music. The eldest son made headlines after posting a lengthy Instagram statement revealing that he did not wish to reconcile with his parents.

In the explosive post, the 26 year-old accused his parents of controlling the family image and even claimed that his mother, Victoria, hijacked his first dance with wife Nicola Peltz.

Brooklyn’s comments were likely not well received by David and Victoria Beckham, but every cloud has a silver lining. The family drama has sparked an unexpected resurgence in the former Spice Girl’s music career.

Whether out of support for the 51-year-old or simply to keep a viral moment going, fans in the UK have rallied to get her 2001 single, Not Such an Innocent Girl, back onto the charts

Confirmed by the UK Official Charts on 23 January, Victoria Beckham has earned the UK’s highest-selling single of the week for her R’n’B-tinged pop track Not Such an Innocent Girl. The song, released in 2001, is known for its Y2K-inspired visuals and a cheeky reference to a “secret rose tattoo” she wants to show the world though exactly what that means remains a mystery.

The single also saw a surge on the downloads chart, with sales and streams spiking by an astonishing 19,615 percent.

Despite the outpouring of support, the track did not break into the Official Singles Chart Top 100, with the number one spot going to Dave’s Raindance, followed by Djo’s End of Beginning

Not Such an Innocent Girl was Victoria Beckham’s first solo single, originally peaking at number six on the UK charts in 2001. Over the course of her music career, she scored a total of four Top 10 singles, including a 2000 feature on Dane Bowers’ hit Out of Your Mind.

Her renewed chart success comes just a day after Brooklyn and Nicola Peltz’s wedding DJ spoke out about the allegedly inappropriate dancing that took place at the couple’s reception.

During an interview on This Morning, DJ Fat Tony clarified that it was the “timing” of Victoria Beckham’s dance with Brooklyn that caused concern, rather than her actual moves.

“There was no… slut dropping, there was no Spice Girl action… it was the timing,” he explained.

“The timing was inappropriate for me. It was meant to be a bride and groom’s moment,” he later told MailOnline. “It was in the heat of the moment.”
